Finally! The promised Thanksgiving post.

I have tried 4 times, unsuccessfully, to publish this post. This is the fifth. Every time I tried to either save the draft or publish the post it froze up. So we try again.

We had Thanksgiving at my house with everyone attending. Everyone accept Ken and Mitz and their family. Mitz and I had a fight and I told her to stay away. JOKING!! She and Ken were helping Melanie and Peter move into their apartment, and having all 14 members of their family over that same evening, so they just couldn't make it. I still had quite a house full, though. Art and Carol and their 4, David and Carolyn and their 2, Mike, and Joe and Connie and their 4. So with me and my 5 that was still a good group.

The older kids sat in the livingrom and Ethan just had to sit with Jack. He also wanted to sit on the stool that he always sits on when they come to my house for a meal. So the following is the result.

He was getting a little annoyed at his predicament, but refused to sit on a different seat. Eventually, Jack helped him by holding his plate where he could reach it. What a funny boy.
We had quite a feast, as usual. Everybody looks quite intent on their plates.
After the meal the men knew just what to do. They all sat around in the livingroom while the women cleaned up the meal. I don't have any pictures of the women in the kitchen, but you all know that I am telling the truth, because the best indicator of present behavior is past behavior. So no further proof is necessary. We did play Balderdash later, but it would have been more fun if certain other people would have been here. We were playing with some rather young people so the answers stayed kind of tame.
Anyway, that was our Thanksgiving and fun was had by all.

Awww, I wish I wouldn't have had to work that day. Stupid work. I hate my job. AND I MISSED BALDERDASH!! But at least I got some turkey and potatoes and gravy afterwards. Yum. I love Thanksgiving.

Hey, is that my brother? Wow, I forgot what he looked like. Good to see he's still alive and still wearing a ball cap. Give him a head rub for me.

It was a good thanksgiving. Even the Balderdash. Ang, next time I see Mike I will try to remember to give him a head rub. :)

That just altogether looks like a crappy day. Glad we had the fight so I had an excuse not to come to your stupid thanksgiving. Guess I know what to do at Christmas .......jerk!!

I can't believe I missed that shindig. Actually, you wouldn't have wanted me there. Peter and I were a little out of sorts after our trip. Ask the people at our thanksgiving. We hardly said anything to anyone an sat upstairs and kind of watched football, and kind of just sat. I'm happy it's over. We'll try again at Christmas.

Is that my mom? Does she have a blog? Why can't I get to it? What's going on? I'm calling her. Enough of this silliness.

Who is Footsack? Is that you Mitz? Why can't I get to your blog? What's going on? OK. I'll just have to call you.

Ok, I think I know who footsack is. But I am pretty sure she needs to change her name to duct-taped foot sack in memory of her slippers. :)

One of my all time favorite family gathering memories involved the women washing up. The men were all doing what they do... And the women were doing what they do, only they added in some raunchy jokes. I seem to remember Aunty Margaret telling one involving swimming in the ocean? Or a wet suit? I don't know. I don't remember the jokes. I just remember the laughing...

Swimming in the ocean? A wet suit? I wish I remembered that one. I do remember laughing a lot while cleaning up though.
Carol, you are so right. Duct-tape Footsack. That's probably where the name comes from. Her slippers literally bacome a sack for her foot. LOL

Oh the memories of cleaning up after a family gathering..... actually I don't remember (kidding)
I recall us quickly throwing tin foil and saran wrap in the garbage while Mom was not in the kitchen.
And if any of you squeal I will deny it, and lay the blame squarely on whoever is close at hand at the time.
LOL Margaret, yep a footsack explains the slippers exactly.

Hey, Margaret, looks like you guys had a great time. That's one of the things that we miss the most about living out here - not being able to get together with family for those "gathering times". Fortunately there was some friends who did not go back to La Crete for thanksgiving and they invited us over; otherwise we would have sat at home by ourselves.
Glad to see that you and Mitz are still getting along. We would have loved to join you

Abe,
Maybe you could come here for Christmas. I have a big house and we would find the space for your whole family. Jasmine would love to meet Brittany and you could have a "family gathering" Christmas. You should seriously think about it.

Hey Auntie Margaret. Stop trying to steal away all the prairie people to B.C. You have to leave some behind for the rest of us to have Christmas with.

Invite them all I say, and we could have a wonderful Christmas
