Thank God for Christian schools

I got the following little story in an email from my social worker. As a special ed T.A. this humerous little story really made me see the delema our public school teachers are in, not to mention our country.

"THE TEACHER APPLICANT"

After being interviewed by the school administration, the young teaching applicant said, "Let me see if I've got this right.
"You want me to into that room with all those kids, correct and discipline their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, sensor their t-shirt messages and instill in them a love for learning.
"You want me to inspect their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and sexually transmitted deseases, and raise their sense of self esteem and personal pride.
"You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, how to register to vote, balance a checkbook and how to apply for a job.
"You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behavior and make sure they all pass their state exams.
"You want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of handicaps, and communicate regularly with their parents by telephone, letter, newsletter and report card.
"You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a few books, a big smile and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps.
"You want me to do all of this and then you tell me . . . I CAN'T PRAY!!!"

Even if you are in the public school system you can still pray. Just not out loud with your kids.

I agree. I think more Christian teachers should get into the public school system. I think it's terrible that you're not allowed to publicly pray with your students, but that doesn't take away our influence. My mom-in-law has some strong views on this and I'm always amazed at the influence she has on the kids she teaches.

I'm really trying to get into the public school system but that is a really hard things to do in S'toon! I would love to teach in a Christian school too but right now I just want a job!

I, too, think we need more Christian teachers in the public system. I am just so thankful that I can pray with my students and teachers. In a public school the only way you can pray with another teacher for a student is if you find out that the other teacher is a Christian.
Even though I work in a Christian school, I have 4 children attending public school so I do believe that we need to pray for our schools and teachers.

Yorkton public schools still say the Lords prayer and have nativity scenes in their Chrismas concerts. Crazy hey?

That is very cool.
In Killam we did too, but here there is nothing like that.

What a shame that they have taken God out of the public schools. That is totally ridiculous.
