My short weekend.

I am tired. I did very little more than lay in bed, watch TV, nap and read. I got there Saturday at 6 pm and went with Brent and Rhea to Brent's friend Tim's house for supper. It was a bit awkward until Tim's fiancé came and gave me a hug and told me that she always wanted to be a wedding crasher. LOL We went back to the hotel around 9, sat and chatted and had a beer and went to bed around 11. On Sunday morning we went for breakfast and then decided that since we had all seen Craigdarrock Castle before we would go see Hatley Castle. We drove way across Victoria and then when we got there we could only go to the gift shop in the basement. The castle was closed to the public. It would have been nice if that was posted on the website. By the time we got back to the hotel there wasn't enough time to go to Craigdarrock Castle so we just went to the grocery store and picked up some food and went back to the hotel for lunch. Then Brent and Rhea went to the wedding and I stayed in the room and did the afore-mentioned. It was actually quiet nice.
The train ride was also nice. I think all the beauty the Via Rail website brags about must happen North of here because from here to Victoria was nice enough, but nothing I would brag about. You see more beautiful scenery if you drive. Most of the tracks are in heavy forest so there isn't much to see and when it isn't in forest it runs behind most buildings so I got to see some unbeleivably messy back yards but also some beautifully manicured yards. Other than that there wasn't much to see. But it was relaxing. I fell asleep on the way there when it got dark.

Really?! About the train I mean...strange. Good to know though, I'd rather take my Civic then.

Glad you had a relaxing weekend anyway. I was worried about your leg with all that sightseeing you were about to do! I love laying in hotel beds and watching cable. Why is it better than laying in my own bed? The possibility of room service?

sounds like you had a good weekend. I think I am ready for something like that soon.

I love riding on the train. It is way more comfy than a car. You can kick back and relax. Sounds like you are having a nice time.

I've always wanted to take the train, it seems so neat! But I'd want to do it cross-country. Wouldn't that be fun??

I"m glad you had a nice little holiday weekend, for the most part. But that sucks about Hatley Castle. They definitely should have posted that on the website. It's so pretty in there, I wish you'd been able to see. Did they say why it was closed??
